Everyday life has turned into some kind of crazy the last few days.

The way its tuning out, today is going to have to be as working one… and I was hoping for a nice quiet weekend with a little breakfast in bed & some good coffee…

Finally time to Relax.

Last week was particularly busy with preparations for our local community venture, but the past few days can only be described as crazy.  Not only did we have the community venture, I started a new project to boot.  Planned for only 4 hours each day but I ended up spending much more - my old habit of not being able to say no.  And that wasn’t all. My Alma mater called with an urgent issue and naturally I agreed to help.  Yep!

My eldest agreed to do a gazillion cupcakes for the community venture and it seemed there was never a moment where the kitchen counters were not filled up with dough of some sorts, or tons of icing.  The youngest agreed to help with the little ones and promptly filled up the dining room with supplies for crafts and mosaic activities.  A week filled with baking and carting cupcakes & supplies to the venture.  All is well that ends well, and I’m thrilled that the community venture was a resounding success.

Relax

Now for some Me time…

Here is some of what I picture doing this weekend

Sleep in

a nice, long bath

Catch up on a few reads

Get some fresh air (hopefully the weather plays along)

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Weekend and Time to wind down.

The month so far has been filled with birthdays and with the making of birthday cakes — my oldest daughter’s first love.  She qualified as a chef in her first year after finishing school and pastry was her favourite part of it — not surprising since she’s quite the artist.  Currently studying towards a degree in commerce, she makes birthday cakes for extra pocket money but would give anything to be able to do it more often.  If only her mother didn’t insist that she finishes her degree first.

Hers is the kind where your imagination is the only limit.  Needless to say, these creations take quite some time to make and eventually we’re all put to work.  We will not mention what the kitchen looks like afterward!  Yesterday was another such day but with one difference — the electricity went off and stayed off.  Luckily the baking part was all done by the time it happened.  The rest of the cake came together as the sun went down and amidst a floor full of cables running from the generator to the kitchen, dad trying his best to find some kind of lamp that would  provide enough light and having to help roll out fondant icing that was fast becoming too cold to mold into shape!

All is well that ends well, and by that I mean the customer was happy.  Needless to say we woke up to a kitchen in a shambles this morning since it was too dark last night and these things don’t clean well with cold water.

I am looking forward to winding down and having a weekend.  What are you up to?

Too dark also to take a picture of last night’s cake, but here’s the artist and some of what she’s made in the past.  You can imagine the kind of stress that goes when these sugar creations come together!

After a “hundred miles per hour” week, it’s time to relax!

The 1st of May usually heralds the arrival of winter here in South Africa, but we’ve been blessed with wonderful summer weather this past week and it’s set to continue for a few more days.  What better way to spend it than the beautiful outdoors?  I love this gorgeous home located on Formentera, Spain - especially the very inviting outdoor areas.
