The Vivid Sydney Festival is described by the organizers as a “the largest celebration of light, music and ideas in the Southern Hemisphere“.
This year’s edition took place during 25 May and 11 June 2012 and begun with no less than 60 light installations, including the “lighting” of the iconic sails defining Sydney Opera House. According to official sources, a global field of artists from countries including France, Poland, Hong Kong, Scotland, USA, Brazil, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia will use Sydney as a playground for their interactive and low-energy light art displays. The festival is expected to attract 500 000 people in the region, taking part of 100 creative industry events, from various art performances to musical concerts. The video below captures a dramatic projection on the sails of Sydney Opera House, watched by thousands of art enthusiasts, lined on the shores of Sydney Harbor.
Enjoy the show!

This is stunning, awe-inspiring work. Thank you for sharing.
p.s.-I found your site via Rossandra, who has nominated us both as blog that inspire her. How lovely, right?
Happy to make your acquaintance. And now I shall peruse more of you…
Alas, I’ve spelled my own name wrong, Minor, not Minot!
Thank you for your kind compliments Britton Minot®! Very kind too of Sandra to nominate us both and “introduce” us; I just love her writing. I can see why she likes your blog — inspiring indeed. It is awesome that you’re taking the time to really see the everyday things and share it in a way that conveys the experience so well. I am touched and inspired and will definitely be visiting often.
